A complete travel guide to Yasin Valley Ghizer Gilgit Baltitan Pakistan
After crossing the beautiful headquarter of the Ghizer district of Gilgit Baltistan via Ghizer Chitral road, you will enter the Gupis valley. You will drive by a river for 45 minutes and it ends at a point where the road divides into two; when you follow the straight, you will move toward the Chitral valley, and when you move towards the right by crossing the suspension bridge, you will hit the entry point of Yaseen valley. The suspension bridge is the start point of the Yaseen Valley.
After that, there comes a Police check post in a small village called “Chali harang,” the first village of Yaseen Valley.Next to it we have Gindai,Nooh, Bijayoot and then central yasin. From the entry point to central Yasin, it just takes 30 minutes. Central Yaseen ends up at a bridge and from there onwards taus start and in front side, there is the mesmerizing beauty of village Gojalti. Taus is the commercial center of Yaseen Valley, where the are shops, hospitals, schools, colleges, banks and hotels. Then we have Sutanabad and Silgan-thoi and in front of Sultanabd, we have Sandi.
Best time to visit Yasin Valley
The time between April-October is the best time for a visit to Yasin Valley. However, out of this time, you will face cold weather and harsh weather too. I visited in the mid of May, and this valley was green everywhere with snow-capped mountains. Still, there was cold at night, but the temperature in the daytime was perfect. Therefore, I also suggest July-August is the ideal time to visit Yasin valley.Because you will also enjoy the fruits and fishing over there in this time. Disadvantage: During these days there is a huge flux of local tourists from across Pakistan.
How to get to Yasin Valley
Yaseen Valley is the origion of the Gilgit Chitral River.
From Gilgit to Yasin
A local Hiece service is the best option. You have to book a ticket from near Gahdi bagh under the bridge known as Shajee Ada on river view road. Vehicles leave every hour between 10 am to 5 pm. The ticket costs just 500 rupees. Once you are on the Hiace van, it takes 2 hours to reach Gahkuch, and there you have rest for tea, and then the journey again begins, and after 2 hours you will get Yasin Valley(central Yasin). There are many places very near to nature in Yaseen Valley. Like sitting near a Yaseen river and inhaling the fresh air.
Go to Moudori Fort
Moudori Fort is a historical place in Dalsandi; there is an old fort from where the downside of Yasin is on birds-eye view. Ask about the history of the Fort from local people and take some good pictures. From taus, it just takes 30 minutes on the bike. We went on the bike. From there, you witness the greenery of Yasin Valley. Qurqolty and Phander are also visible from there. The view is just amazing.
Short hikes and village walks
Walkthrough a village through the streets; you will chit-chat with people in fields, offering you to sit with them and have some fun. There are tracks to hike on mountains in taus sand and Gojalti where shepherds take their goats and sheep for grassing.
Day trip to Darkut
Darkut is the last village of this valley. From taus, it takes 1.30 hours to reach there. This is big greenery, but most of the part is damaged by floods. There are many big bib stones. But there are small lakes when you take up the side of the Darkut. So it has one plan greenery and is popular for its lakes and river. Traveling from taus to Darkut you come across any beautiful places. A motorbike is recommended as the road from Umalsat to Darkut is not in good condition.
Sangum Point Barandass
This was a very lovely place in the entire Yasin. This is my favorite. This is the point where the Thoi river and Darkut river meet. There is a small cabin for refreshment, and a book and pen are installed by a local artist.Sit there near Thoi river and enjoy the music of the river. We sat there for almost 4 hours. I enjoyed the tea, and it just cost 40 Rs per cup and biscuits are also available.
Have chai in someone’s home
The people are very hospitable. It’s their culture to offer you tea and food at their homes. There boiled eggs with tea are amazing.Sit with local women, and just laugh, and the young girls will play the role of translators.
Language, culture, and religion in Yasin
The inhabitants are primarily Burushaski Khowar-speakers Ismaili Muslims, followers of the His Highness Prince Aga Khan. Also, there are Sunni Muslims in the center of Yasin taus and Sandi. They are sober and peaceful, and well educated. You will see girls and women walking around in streets and roads openly, which is rare in other rural parts of Pakistan. There are co-shools, and the literacy rate of this generation is almost 100 %. No child is out of school. They have an excellent transition a majority of their elders are illiterate or very less educated.
The people follow Islamic culture, and women take no pictures and are a bit shy.
